America Creates

Today I had the opportunity Bactrim, to speak with so many wonderful artists!  One in particular happened to make blankets and coats carved out of WOOD!  This Artist's Name is Fraser Smith.  I hope he signs on to be a member of our community of artists!  His work is amazing!  I didn't have a very long conversation with Fraser, but I was completely blown away when I saw his work!  You can check out his website for yourself: http://www.gofraser.com/ 

Another Artist I spoke with was Annie Wahl.  She makes the neatest character dolls I've seen!  They are so adorable, and so life-like!  The picture above is an example of her work!  She grew up in the Mid West and her character dolls reflect that.  She had the benefit of growing up in a very close family that celebrated life at every opportunity.  If there wasn't an occasion, they made one up!  It is from these great memories that she gets her inspiration from to create her dolls.  Here is a link to her website also: http://www.anniewahl.com/

She found her medium in Super Sculpey clay and realized its potential to make little faces in moments of sweetness and subtle humer, and others rather outrageous - just for fun!  She says she never knows whom she will meet next, even when she has a specific plan in mind, someone else inevitable shows up. 

She sculps dolls for the pure joy of creating and having fun.  In return, the dolls have lead Annie on a blissful journey meeting doll artists, organizations, events and people whom she would not have had the opportunity to meet.
