The first part of the Bodies Exhibition http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/ focused on the skeletal structure. Inside the exhibit it was clear this was a science educational display. Historically the human figure has been the most popular subject in art, based on the notion that we copy it because it is the thing we know best. In school I (Stephanie) took the first semester of an Anatomy for Artists class with the goal to learn more about the body beneath the surface. Attending this exhibit with that drawing class would have been amazing, We did manage to make a few sketches. The doctors and scientist who prepared the bodies have some hand in the creation of the preserved body, preservation and dissection taking up to a year in some cases.

The Bodies Exhibition is worth the trip up to Seattle. It is a great educational tool to learn first hand about anatomy. We can't think of anything that reminds us more of human mortality than looking a dead people for two hours.
