Would it be possible for us to receive a copy of the photo showing the tractor clawing away at the house? It is a great illustration for us of what not to do and to demonstrate how often materials go to waste instead of being deconstructed for reuse.

FYI, The ReBuilding Center also has a service that is a sustainable alternative to demolition, DeConstruction Services. As new development requires the removal of more and more old structures, DeConstruction Services is making it their goal to keep as much of this material as possible from entering the waste stream. A skilled team takes buildings apart by hand and prepares the lumber and other materials to be reused by the client or by the public through The ReBuilding Center.

An average 2,000 square foot home, if deconstructed instead of demolished, will prevent the harvest of 33 mature trees. Opting for deconstruction will provide 38 more worker days at a living wage than would demolition. We employ up to 30 people at a time on our DeConstruction Services teams.

Thanks for mentioning The ReBuilding Center in your article!
